BMW INSPECTION II

Undercarriage
1. Change engine oil and oil filter while engine is at operating temperature.
2. Check transmission for leaks.
3. Check rear axle for leaks.
4. Check fuel tank, lines and connections for leaks.
5. Check condition, position and mounting of exhaust system.
6. Check power steering system for leaks. Check P/S fluid level; add fluid if necessary.
7. Check front and rear brake pads and rotors for wear.
8. Check brake (and clutch) system connections and lines for leaks or damage.
9. Check steering, steering linkage, suspension track rods, and front axle joints.
10. Check parking brake.
11. Check tire pressure on all tires including spare tire; adjust if necessary.
12. Check tires for wear. If requested, rotate all four tires. This may not be recommended with certain tires.
13. Inspect body for rust.

Engine Compartment
1. Replace microfilter (cabin filter). Some models have more then one.
2. Replace intake air cleaner element (air filter).
3. Replace fuel filter. Depending on the year and model of the vehicle this may not need to be done or may require additional labor to replace.
4. Replace spark plugs. This is only done at certain mileage intervals.
5. Add 44k (gasoline additive).
6. Check engine cooling system/ heater hose connections for leaks. Check coolant level; add coolant if necessary.
7. Check level of brake and clutch fluid reservoir; add fluid if necessary.
8. Check windshield washer fluid level; add fluid if necessary.
9. Check air conditioner for operation.
10. Reset service indicator.

Body/ Electrical Equipment
1. Check condition of battery.
2. Check all lights (Headlights, foglights, parking, reverse, license plate, trunk and interior lights.
3. Check turn signals, hazard warning flashers, brake lights, horns, headlight dimmer/ flasher switch.
4. Check instrument panel and dashboard illumination.
5. Check all warning/ indicator lights, check control.
6. Check wipers and washer system, washer jet positions.
7. Replace wiper blade inserts; if necessary.
8. Check condition and function of safety belts.
9. Check central locking system.
10. Check operation of all latches.
11. Check heater/ air conditioner blower fan and rear window defogger.
12. Check rear view mirrors.

Final Inspection
1. Road test with check of brakes, suspension, steering and clutch/ manual transmission or automatic transmission.
